Question and Answers

Q:

Transaxle jumps out of gear 917275760 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the lawn tractor. If the tractor does not make any unusual noises when it stops, I recommend pulling back on the brake pedal when it stops. If the tractor starts driving again, I recommend checking the drive belt and the clutch return spring. For some reason the belt is not tight enough and is slipping. If the tractor does not drive when pulling back in the brake pedal, I recommend checking the bypass lever. If the lever is slightly pulled out, it could cause the drive to be intermittent.  If the lever is fine, I suspect the problem is in the transaxle. If this is the case, the transaxle needs to be replaced. The parts for the tractor can be ordered from the following link.  Replacement parts for a Craftsman lawn tractor model number 917275760.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

Attachment cluth will not drop. Craftsman LT 2000 MN#917275760

A:

You could have a broken head assembly or a problem with the cable. A service technician will normally need to diagnose and repair this type of problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to try and fix this problem yourself, you can go to the Sears PartsDirect website and view the parts list diagram for your tractor. The attachment clutch mechanism is on the MOWER DECK page. If you are able to use the parts list diagram to determine the replacement parts that you need, you may be able to fix the attachment clutch problem yourself.

Q:

Mower Won't Start 917275760 Craftsman Lawn tractor

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the new battery is charged and measures 12.5 volts or more, then it could have bad starter or the engine valves need adjusting. The valves are more likely needing adjustment than it having a bad starter.

I added a video showing how to adjust the valves on a Briggs and Stratton engine. There is also a part two video to watch.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
