Model #917275660 Craftsman lawn, tractor

Question and Answers

Q:

I have a tractor/mower model 917275660. I replaced the battery, solenoid, ignition switch, fuse, and the PTO switch. The tractor is ok, the mower is still inoperative. NEXT??

A:

Your tractor has a diode across the red and black wire that supply the 12 volts dc to the electric clutch. I suspect this diode shorted and is what was causing the fuses to blow in your tractor.

I suspect if you visually inspect the connector on the electric clutch wires you will find a connection burned out.

If this is not the case you probably have a bad electric clutch. Disconnect the electric clutch connector and turn the PTO switch on and the ignition switch on. Check for 12 volts dc at the connector in the tractor harness. If you don't have that check from the 2 red wires on the PTO switch to ground. If you don't have the 12 volts dc here, the ignition switch is bad.
