Model #917273280 Craftsman lawn, tractor

Question and Answers

Q:

My Sears mower loses power when the pto switch is engaged. Why?

A:

Your mower has an operator presence relay that will ground out the ignition module module if it fails or if the seat switch is not made.

You should check the seat switch with an ohm meter and if it is good, replace the operator presence relay.

Q:

What would make my stator on my lawn tractor short out? Put a new one in and my lawn tractor blew the 20 amp fuse in 50 ft of mowing. The stator showes shorted.

A:

You will need to check all of your wiring for a short. You could have a short in the fuel shut-off solenoid, electric clutch or ignition switch. If the engine would run and idle for a while without the blades engaged then the electric clutch circuit would more suspect. A technician will likely need to diagnose and repair this failure unless you can find the short that is causing your stator problem.

Q:

mower model numbers

A:

Thank you for your question.

I looked up the model number you submitted. In 2003 we did not sell a DLT with a manual transaxle. I think that model 917.27361 has a transaxle that may work. You can order the parts from the following link. Craftsman tractor parts

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
