Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with removing the steering column. The column comes out the bottom of the tractor. First, you have to remove the mower deck from the tractor. Then remove the steering wheel and the adapter. The column is held in place with a retainer clip. I have posted an image below that shows where the clip is located. Just click on the image to enlarge it. Once you locate the clip use a small straight blade screwdriver to pry the clip off the shaft. Be sure to hold the shaft because once the clip is removed the shaft will drop out the bottom. Depending on the length of the shaft, you might need to lift the front of the tractor to have enough clearance to remove the shaft. Once the shaft is removed, check the condition of the bushings. If they are worn, it is a good time to replace them.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
