Question and Answers

Q:

Have a kenmore electric range that the oven does not heat to desired temp?

A:

If the temperature is only slightly off (< 35 degrees) then you can use the procedure shown on page 31 of your owner's manual to adjust the control. Here is a link for the owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual for Kenmore Range Model 911.94492992 .

If the oven temperature is way off, then I recommend that unplug the range and check the bake and broil elements for any visible damage. If you see no problems with those element and they glow red when they are on then you could have a problem with the oven temperature sensor probe or the electronic oven control board. You can use a volt/ohm meter to check the oven temperature sensor probe (with the range still unplugged ). The sensor probe in the oven appears to be mounted on the bracket for the broil element. You can either access that oven temperature sensor probe from inside the oven by removing the mounting screws and pulling the wires into the oven. Note: It may be easier to access the disconnect plug for that oven temperature sensor probe from the back of the range. Remove the outside back panel to access that wiring (with the range still unplugged ). The oven temperature sensor probe should measure around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If that resistance is off by more than 100 ohms, then the sensor probe (part WB23T10002) will probably need to be replaced. You can order that part from this page: Sensor Assembly for Kenmore Range Model 911.94492992 . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and replacing internal components.

If that oven temperature sensor probe is okay, then you could have a bad oven control board in the console or a problem with the wire harness between the sensor and the control board. Reply with additional details if you need help with further testing.
