Question and Answers

Q:

my kenmore oven keeps shutting off after a few minutes. what could be wrong with it?

A:

You could have a weak glow bar ignitor on the oven bake burner. See if the broil burner works properly. If that broiler works then you can let the burner cool and then try switching the bake and broil ignitors to see if the bake burner will work properly with that other ignitor in place. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and handling internal components. If the bake burner works after switching the ignitors, then you will need to replace the weak ignitor to fix this problem.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for that ignitor is WB2X9154. Here is a direct link for that part: Ignitor .

The theory of operation for that ignition system on your oven burners is shown in the image below.

This information may help you fix that failure in your oven. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this oven failure, you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .
