Question and Answers

Q:

kenmore electric oven not working 9114132990

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "F2" fault code indicates the oven temperature exceeded 590 degrees with the door unlocked or it exceeded 990 degrees with the door locked while in the clean mode.

This could mean a stuck relay contact on the electronic oven control board or it could have a faulty oven temperature sensor probe or a loose or corroded connection in the oven temperature sensor circuit.

The first thing to check is the oven temperature sensor. The oven sensor is located inside the oven cavity and is mounted in the upper rear left or right corner.  It can be removed and disconnected and tested with an Ohm meter for resistance. At room temperature, the sensor should measure approximately 1100 Ohms of resistance. If it does, the electronic oven control is likely faulty if there are no loose or corroded wire connections in the oven sensor circuit.

If the oven sensor measures approximately 1100 Ohms, then in order to get a new oven control, a technician will need to remove the control and he will have to ship it off to have the control repaired if they do not have one in stock.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.
