Question and Answers

Q:

washer goes into hf failure

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. The FH error code comes up when the washer should be filling with water but the control board does not sense any water entering. By what you have stated, the washer works fin on hot water I would suspect a cold water fill problem. First, turn the water off to the washer and remove the clod water hose at the back of the washer. Then check the debris screen inside of the water valve. If it is plugged you can flush it out with a turkey baster and water. Once it is clean reconnect the hose and turns the water on. Next check the operation. The washer should fill when set to cold. If the water does not come in or comes in slow, I would think the water valve is the problem. The water valve can be ordered from our parts website Sears Parts Direct .

I have provided you with the instructions for replacing the water valve below. Please make sure to unplug the washer before attempting any service on the washer.

Q:

My machine says HF i dont know why

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If it takes too long to fill or if it does not detect water entering, it will display F/H.

I added an image below with some troubleshooting information. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

What does the 09 F error code indicate on a Kenmore washer?

A:

Based on these error codes, it is likely that you have a Kenmore HE3 washer. On this type of washer, the F 09 error code indicates that an overflow condition has been detected by the water level pressure switch. The FH error code on this type of washer indicates that no water is being detected entering the machine or that the pressure switch has not tripped to indicate that the washer is full after a certain amount of time. Both of these codes relate to the proper filling of the washer or the operation of the water level pressure switch. You could have a faulty water level pressure switch. You could also have a problem with the drain hose installation, the water inlet valves, the drain pump or the electronic control board. If you resubmit your question with additional details (whether the washer is filling or overfilling) and the full model number of your Kenmore washer, we can provide more detailed troubleshooting and repair information.
