Question and Answers

Why does my Proform 745CS treadmill model 831.299474 blow the fuse if the speed gets higher than 4.5 mph?

This type of symptom normally points to a friction problem that is overheating the motor. Here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • Check the tension and alignment of the walking belt as shown on page 23 of your owner's manual. Here is a link for the manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .
  • The belt may need to be lubricated. You can order a tube of lubricant from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the lubricant is 219168.
  • Keep in mind that the weight limit for the treadmill is 250 lbs. As you approach that limit, the motor will be more vulnerable to overheating especially if friction problems (such as lack of lubrication and an improperly adjusted belt) are evident.
If these tips don't help, you could have a problem with the motor or motor controller. Since the treadmill will run normally in certain conditions (< 4.5 mph) then these failures are less likely.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
