Question and Answers

Q:

Heating element is not heating

A:

The heating element should measure 10 to 30 ohms of resistance. Here is a video that provides a procedure for testing that component: Dishwasher Heating Element Testing . You may need to recheck the resistance of that element.

Be sure that you have the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher shut off before accessing internal components.

If the element is bad, it will need to be replaced. You can order the parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the element is 8563007.

If the element is okay, you can reconnect the wires on the element and check the resistance of the entire circuit from the control board. The wiring diagram for the dishwasher is shown in the first image below. You can access the control board using the procedure shown in the second image (with the breaker still shut off ). Check the resistance of the circuit that is traced in red on the wiring diagram. If that circuit is "open" then I recommend that you check that high limit thermostat. That ligh limit thermostat should measure around zero ohms. If it is "open" (measures infinite resistance) then it will need to be replaced.

If that high limit thermostat is okay, you will need to check the wiring in that circuit.

If the resistance through that heating circuit is okay, you could have a problem with the thermistor (temperature sensor) or the electronic control board.

These tips should help you resolve this heating issue in your dishwasher.

Q:

Whirlpool washer dont fill with water.

A:

Make sure that you check the water supply. Shut off the supply faucets and remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer. Place the ends of those hoses into a bucket and briefly turn on the water supply to check for good water pressure and flow from the ends of the fill hoses. Check the inlet water screens on that back of the washer for debris or deposits. You may have already checked these issues. These basic troubleshooting steps should not be overlooked.

If the valves are not buzzing in the fill mode then you could have a bad load sense switch on that washer. I provided a wiring diagram in the first image below with the circuit through those fill valves traced in wire colors. I recommend that you unplug the washer and check those circuits for continuity. You seem to know what you are doing with that meter that you have. If you need help or direction in checking those circuits through the fill valves, let us know. The second image shows the theory of operation for that load sense system. Even though the valves are getting voltage out of that control board, if the neutral side of that circuit is not completed then the valves will not open. Based on your description, it is possible that you have a bad load sense switch. You may be able to confirm or deny that failure using this information. If you need to replace that load sense switch, you can order it from this page: Load Sense Switch for Whirlpool Washer WTW57ESVW1 . Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing and replacing internal components.
