Question and Answers

Q:

79680441900 ran dryer without lint filter for 25min ..now dryer not functioning wat happen

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Without the lint filter installed, clothing can get sucked into the lint chute and get jammed in the blower wheel or restrict the air flow causing the thermal fuse to fail.

I assume the dryer will no longer start due to a piece of clothing jamming the blower wheel. If the blower wheel will can not spin, the motor can not start. If the thermal fuse has failed, the motor will not start.

If the motor hums but won't start, there is likely something stuck in the blower wheel. This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

The top, control panel and front panel will have to be removed in order to access the blower wheel. If you feel confident in disassembling the dryer, I added an image with the procedures. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

for a kenmore dryer model number 79680441900 how do you change the vent from the right side to the rear of the dryer

A:

The first image shows the general instructions for changing the dryer vent from the rear to the side. This is from page 33 of the owner's manual that was provided in the above response. The second image shows more specific instructions for changing that vent. Unplug the dryer and reverse that procedure to change the dryer back to a rear vent configuration. Be sure that you wear protective gloves when completing this procedure.

There is a chance that you may not be able to disconnect that side vent without opening the dryer cabinet (with the dryer still unplugged ). I provided the procedure for opening the dryer cabinet in the images below in case you need it.

If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will be glad to help you further.
