Question and Answers

Q:

Refrigerator model # 79575196401 water leaking out from door that has water dispenser.

A:

The information on accessing components of that water dispenser system is shown in the image below. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

If the water stops leaking after you unplug the refrigerator, you could have a problem with the activation micro-switch in the dispenser housing. If that switch is sticking, it will need to be replaced. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. If you replace that switch and still have a problem, you may need to replace the main control board.

If the water leaks even when the refrigerator is unplugged, you will probably need to replace that water valve.

I hope that these tips help. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

How to replace Refrigerator Door

A:

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. Before you start the repair, unplug the refrigerator and set up a padded work surface large enough for both of the doors. Next, inspect the new door for damage. If it looks ok, proceed with the repair. Place the new door on the work surface. Then use the instructions in the image below to remove the door. Once the door is removed, place it next to the new door. Then carefully transfer one part at a time to the new door. Once all the parts are transferred, install the new door onto the refrigerator. I know this is not the best information but the service manual is somewhat vague. They rely on the experience repair technician. As we get more of these products in here to us, we will have better images.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the refrigerator.

Thank you for the reply. The foam on the inside of the cover should only have adhesive on one side. It is only on the cover to prevent air leaks. The cover is just secured with tab on the backside. When facing the side of the door pull the cover towards you. Start at the top to release the top tab. Once it is released, slide your finger between the cover and the door, and work your way down. I hope this is somewhat clear. It will be once the cover is off.

Thank you for the picture. The Part you are trying to remove is the inter door liner, not the cover. The cover is the plastic strip on the inside side of the door. The inter door liner is foamed in place and can not be removed. According to the parts break down the new door should have a liner already attached. Please send me a picture of the new door and I will try to see if you have received the correct part. I will also need the part number you ordered.
