Q:

what does the display "er co" on my kenmore elite refrigerator indicate?

A:

Barbara H supplied a link for a previous answer that indicates the Er Co error code signifies a communication error between the display control board on the freezer door and the main power board on the outer back panel of the refrigerator. If you are able to unplug the refrigerator and remove the cover over the control board on the back of the refrigerator, you can check the wiring connection on the CON6 connector of the main control board (circled in red on the wiring diagram in the first image below). The actual location of the CON6 connector is shown on the diagram in the second image below. If this wiring connection is okay, check the wire harness connection under the hinge cover on the top of the left hand refrigerator door. If these connections are okay, then you will need access the wire harness connection in the dispenser as shown in the third image below (with the refrigerator still unplugged ). If you can find and correct a wire harness connections problem, this may fix your refrigerator problem. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

A:

Newbie: The arm is automatic. If your icemaker is working properly when the ice level becomes high enough the arm will sense the level by contact and shut the icemaker off. The are travels up and down when it goes into a harvest mode and when the ice bucket is full enough the arm will rest on top of the ice shutting the icemaker off until the ice level drops causing the arm to travel downwards which turns the icemaker on. The arm doesn't travel much when the icemaker is harvesting. If the ice maker is working and shutting off once the bucket is full then the ice maker is working correctly.
