Question and Answers

Q:

What would cause the left front inner coil and indicator light to not come on?

A:

Most likely the burner switch has failed. In order for the inner element to work contact P2 and 4 needs to close inside the burner switch. In order to trouble shoot the failure a volt/ohm meter will be needed and knowledge of how to use it. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

The voltage supply to the range will need to be turned off by flipping both breakers OFF dedicated just for the range inside the house breaker box. You will need to access the left front burner switch by removing the rear console panel and disconnect all the wires attached to the burner switch. NOTE: Make a note of where which wire connects before disconnecting the wires. You will need to check for continuity between terminal P2 and 4 with the switch turned on. It should show infinity or closed. If it shows open then the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. The burner switch will cost approximately $50.00 and it is not returnable. The element will cost approximately $90.00 and is not returnable.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.
