Question and Answers

One of the burners on my range is heating too much or too quickly.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when you cannot control the heat on the RR burner.

The control switch will need to be replaced because the internal control with-in the switch is not cycling the way it is suppose to.

I would suggest that the switch be replaced.

If you feel comfortable with working in the wire harness of the range and have some mechanical ability you can repair this range.

The part number for the switch is;316021500 and you can purchase it at;Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

First REMOVE POWER to the range.

  • Pull the range out from the wall

  • Remove the upper back panel on the range.

  • Locate the right rear switch location and pull the knob off the switch stem and remove the two screws that secure the switch to the control panel.

  • With the other switch in hand replace wire for wire from the old switch to the new switch and re-install back into the range.

Once done replace the panels and push the range back into the location and re-apply power and test operation.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
