Question and Answers

Q:

Why does the LOCK indicator continuously blink when I touch Bake after a cleaning cycle?

A:

The LOCK light blinking indicates that the door latch assembly is likely stuck. Normally, there is not a way to reset this problem. You can try unplugging the range for 5 minutes. After plugging it back in, if the control continues to blink the LOCK light when bake is pushed, then I recommend calling a service technician to repair the range.

Q:

lock button is flashing on my electric stove

A:

Try these steps to retract the door lock lever and restore the control to normal operation:

  • Hold in the door switch plunger to simulate the oven door being closed. Continue to hold this plunger in while you complete the following steps.

  • Press the CLEAR button on the control to cancel the Self-Cleaning cycle.

  • If the door lock motor starts to run and retract the door lock lever, continue to hold the door switch plunger in until it complete retracts and the LOCK light goes out.

This may restore your range control to normal operation.

If the door lock will not operate, then you may have a problem with the door lock assembly, a wiring failure or a bad control board. I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair that type of problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

I have a Kenmore model 79095748991 range. The door is open and the lock is out. The range was set to clean while the door was ajar. How do I unlock the door?

A:

Disconnect the power from the range for 1-2 minutes and reconnect it. Set the range to self clean for 30 seconds and cancel clean.

If this doesn't unlock the lock someone will have to disconnect the power and remove the lower back cover on the range. Remove the screws from the lock motor and lift it out of the lock mechanism. Rotate the cam in the lock mechanism by hand to unlock the lock.

If neither of my first suggestions worked someone will need to test the switches on the lock mechanism and the door frame. I recommend you get a technician to diagnose and repair the range.
