Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore electric range

A:

It is extremely rare for 2 elements to fail at the same time. Check the stove top elements to make sure that they are working properly. If not, you could have a blown house fuse or a problem with the electrical breaker for the range. If the surface elements work, it is likely that you have an oven control board failure causing this problem in your range. There is a slight possibility that you could have a wiring failure. You can unplug the range and check the wiring on the control board. Remove the upper panel behind the console to access the control board. The wiring diagram for your range is shown in the image below. Check the red wire connected to the L2 IN spade and the orange wire connected to the L2 OUT spade. A failure in these wiring connections could prevent both elements from heating. Check the control board for a burned spot or damage. If the wiring connections are good, you will likely need to replace that control board (part 316455420). You may also need the overlay unless you can use the original one off of the control board.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components.
