Question and Answers

Q:

Why does the selected oven temperature take an additional 15 minutes to reach the temperature after the beep and then the food item still takes longer to cook?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It is normal for the pre-heat to signal before it actually reaches the set temperature. The pre-heat signal is based on a set amount time and not actual oven temperature. So, I would let it continue to heat for the additional 15 minutes before baking any pies, cakes or cookies. Any roasting of the such can go in after the pre-heat signals.

You may want to think about checking the oven temperature with a good oven thermometer too and compare it with the set temperature. Be sure to allow the heat to cycle off and on 3 times before checking the oven temperature thermometer.

If you feel it's not cooking hot enough, the Use and Care Guide will have the instructions for adjusting the oven temperature on page 32. It can be adjusted up to 35 degrees up or down.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Brokenmower: If you feel that there is something wrong with the oven, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range. Again, it is not abnormal for the pre-heat to signal before it actually reaches the set temperature. You say it will maintain a contstant temperature once it reaches the set temperature so I would assume there is nothing wrong with the oven operation.
