Question and Answers

Q:

Received replacement EOC but can't get springy push buttons out. How do I open the EOC to get the push buttons and install in replacement?

A:

You should be able to pull the shafts of the push buttons out using a pair of pliers. If any of the shafts are damaged or won't come out, you can order new ones from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the shafts is 316080600.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

"Locked Range"

A:

The oven door lock may be stuck in a position where it is not fully retracted. You can close the oven door and set the oven in the self clean mode. Allow the oven door to lock fully. This may take a couple of minutes. Once the oven door is locked and the oven begins to heat, press the CLEAR/OFF button to cancel that self-clean cycle. Allow the door lock to fully retract before attempting to open the oven door. Here is a link for the owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual for Kenmore Gas Range Model 790.77475790 . Page 14 of that manual shows how to start and stop the self clean mode.

If that does not fix your problem then you will probably need to have the range serviced by a technician. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

If you want to fix this problem yourself and you need more help, reply to this thread with additional details.
