Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore oven not working

A:

Check to see if the broil burner works. If neither the bake nor broil burners will work, then you may need to check the oven service shut-off valve that is shown in the image below. If the range was moved or serviced recently, then that valve could have been flipped to the shut position.

If the broil element works, then I recommend that you check the igniter on the bake burner to see if it glows when the oven is set in the bake mode. Here is a link for a brief video that show the theory of operation for the ignition system in your oven: Gas Ignition Operation . If the igniter glows but it is not getting hot enough, then it will probably need to be replaced. You can order that part from this page: Ignitor for Kenmore Elite Range Model 790.75903993 . Unplug the range before accessing and replacing that part.

If the igniter is not glowing, then you could have a problem with the igniter, the safety gas valve, the electronic oven control board or the wiring. Reply with additional details if you need more help diagnosing and repairing this oven heating failure.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
