Q:

model number 790-744-03990 range oven temp light is very dim

A:

If there is a function that controls the brightness of the display, it will be in the Timer Instruction Guide for that model of range. I do not have a copy of that guide. If you have your copy of that document, you can try to find the procedure in that guide.

I have contacted the manufacture to obtain an electronic copy of that guide. If I receive that document from the manufacturer, I will update this answer when I receive that document.

If there is not a procedure for changing the brightness of the display, then you will probably need to have the control board repaired. The control board is no longer available as a replacement part but you could unplug the range and remove it. It can be sent to Core Centric Solutions for repair. The cost of the repair would be around $150. Once the control board is returned to you, then you could re-install it in the range. Here is a link for the Core Centric Solutions company in case you need it: Core Centric Solutions.com .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I received the Timer Instruction Guide from the manufacturer but it did not show a method for increasing or decreasing the intensity of the temperature/time display on the control. The control board will probably need to be repaired as noted above to fix this type of problem.
