Question and Answers

Q:

I have a kenmore gas range. After a power failure, the electric part, oven temp.clean, timer, etc. lights do no work at all. Is there a reset switch ?

A:

You may have a tripped house circuit breaker. I recommend that you check that issue first. If the circuit breaker is not tripped for that range electrical outlet, then I recommend that you plug a small lamp or appliance into the outlet to make sure that it is working. If the outlet works but the range apparently is not getting any electrical power (oven light does not turn on when the oven door is opened and the stove top igniters don't tick), then I recommend that you call Sears for service at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) since the range is still under warranty.

Q:

Foil fell on the bottom of my oven, #79072402013, I have ordered panel #316400603. Thanks for step by step instructions to remove & replace bottom panel.

A:

Here are some instructions that should help you complete that repair:

  1. Unplug the range to completely disconnect electrical power.
  2. Open the oven door and pull the racks out of the oven (the oven should be room temperature during this procedure).
  3. You should see two thumb screws at the back of the bottom panel inside that oven cavity. Remove those screws.
  4. Lift the back of that bottom oven panel up slightly and slide it back to clear the panel from under the front lip.
  5. You should then be able to lift that bottom panel out and replace it with the new one.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
