Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore gas range oven won't light 790-71513402

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom it could just have a weak glow igniter. Open the broiler drawer and then turn the oven on to bake or broil and watch towards the back of the burner for a red glow. If you see it glowing red, the igniter is too weak to pull enough current/amperage to open the oven gas valve. If the igniter is not glowing, it could simply have a faulty glow bar igniter or it could have faulty electronic oven control/clock assembly or a faulty oven gas valve.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Antonio: Based on your symptom, the glow bar igniter is too weak to pull enough current/amperage to open the oven gas valve. Replacing the glow bar igniter will most likely resolve the problem. Be sure to disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing and replacing the glow bar oven igniter.
