Question and Answers

Q:

Model 790-48173000 How many amps?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You will need to look on the model and serial number tag on the oven to see what the wattage rating is for your specific model oven. If the wattage is rated 7200W-6900W then it will need a 40 amp service. If it's rated 9600 watts or more, it will need a 50 amp service.

I added an image of the electrical requirements below.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

wall oven 790-48173000

A:

I apologize for the trouble that you had in getting the information that you need to install this oven. The first image below shows the breaker/wire size and the KW rating for that oven. You will need a 30 amp breaker with 10 ga. copper wire size. Local and National Electrical Codes need to be followed for that installation. The second image shows the entire contractor spec sheet where I found that information.

I hope that this is the information that you are looking for.

I will forward your concerns about the Tech Support people to our manager.

Q:

Sears Elite Wall Oven Err F15

A:

That link for a previous answer that Joseph P. posted in the above response describes a similar failure that resulted in the F15 error code. That F15 indicates that you have a bad clock controller in that console. The part number for that controller in your oven is 316576307. Here is a direct link for that part: Kenmore Elite Wall Oven Model 790.48173000 Controller . Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven before accessing and replacing that control board. It is shown as Key 20 in the parts image below. You may be able to release that console key panel (Key 19) by removing screws at the bottom of that component. If not, you will need to pull the oven out of the cabinet and remove that top panel (Key 2B) to access that controller.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
