Question and Answers

Q:

F30 error code

Hello Mark. The open safety thermostat is a thermal safety switch that is installed in the circuit for the oven temperature sensor probe. You could be facing that situation if your range has that type of component in the oven temperature sensor circuit. I posted a wiring diagram for the range that is referenced in the original question of this thread (model 790.46893900). That range has 2 of the safety thermostats that Jimmy K. was referencing in his 2/14/12 thread. Since the sensor probe is apparently okay since it measures the correct resistance, I recommend that you plug that sensor back in and then check the resistance through the entire sensor circuit from the control board in the console (with the house circuit breakers for the range SHUT OFF to completely disconnect electrical power). I added a procedure in the second image below that shows how to open the console and access the control board on model 790.46893900. If the resistance through that sensor circuit is normal (around 1100 ohms) then the electronic control board will need to be replaced. If you measure OL -- open load or infinite resistance through that sensor circuit, then you may have an "open" safety thermostat or a wiring failure in that sensor harness. These tips may help you resolve that problem with your range. If you need more help, reply with additional details and a full model number if it is different than the one referenced above.
