Question and Answers

Q:

how to install 9030979040 model# 79046829102

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. The dual burner infinite switch should have come with wiring instructions if there was any difference in how it should be connected, otherwise the terminals markings should be the same as the original switch. Remove one wire at a time from the old switch and connect it to the matching terminal on the new switch. It should have the same terminal markings on the old and new switch. They will be marked P1, P2, S1, S2, 4, 4A and 2.

I do not have model specific instructions on how to remove the control panel but I did add an image below with the basic instructions. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power supply before access the burner switch. Remove the knob and you will find the two screws securing the burner switch to remove.

Q:

install kenmore elite part #316418400

A:

The link for a previous answer provided by Alina F. in the above response provides a procedure for replacing a radiant element in a similar type of smooth top range. The procedure for lifting the top on your slide-in range will be slightly different. Shut off the circuit breaker to the range before beginning this procedure. You will likely need to pull the range out from the counter to access screws that secure the glass top. I don't have an exact procedure for this repair. It appears that you will need to remove the end caps on the console. You may find some screws behind the end caps that secure the glass top to the frame of the range. You can view a parts list diagram for the range on the Sears PartsDirect website. That diagram may help you lift the top so that you can access the burner. Once you get the top lifted off of the range, the procedure for replacing the burner should be the same as described in the link provided in the previous response.

This may not be an easy do-it-yourself repair with out a specific repair procedure provided. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
