Q:

Bad bake element in Kenmore elite range or could it be the control panel? Please advise on how to check.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The bake element can be removed from the oven and tested with an Ohm meter. If the bake element tests Okay then I would have to assume the electronic oven control has failed.

I added a YouTube video showing how to test the bake element. If the bake element tests Okay then I would have to assume the electronic oven control has failed. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power supply before removing the bake element. To remove the bake element: Remove the oven racks and the two screws securing the bake element to the rear panel. Slide the bake element out slowly until you come to the wire connections. Disconnect the two wires by pulling on the metal spades and not by pulling on the wires. Position the wires so they don't recoil back through the openings of the rear panel. Follow the YouTube video showing how to test the bake element.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
