Question and Answers

Q:

cast iron searing grill on electric range.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I must assume you are referring to the cast iron Griddle. Before using the griddle it must be seasoned by following the instructions I added in the image below.

To use the griddle; place it gently across one or two burners and then turn one or both burners on to medium heat and give it plenty of time to preheat the cast iron griddle before using. NOTE: Do not drag the cast iron griddle across the glass top or it will scratch the glass.

Linda: According to our sources you would use the grill in the same manner as the griddle. There is no written instruction on how to use the grill. The grill can be placed across one or two burners and you would want to pre-heat before using. Many cook books will have grilling instructions for various types of meats.

Linda: The grill should have a small pool or reservoir to catch and prevent the drippings from spilling over and on the top. It would also have a raised lip all the way around the perimeter of the grill to catch and to prevent juices from spilling over onto the top. NOTE: If the meat has too much fat then it possibly could overfill the grill with grease and drippings and run over the edge.

Linda; Thanks so much for the image. I see now what type of searing grill you have. This type is used inside the oven. You would select the broil feature and place the three pieces on the upper oven rack. Place the Broiler Pan insert on the Broiler Pan and then place the Cast-iron searing grill on top of the Broiler Pan insert. Follow the Broiling instructions on page 20. Pre-heat the searing grill in the oven before placing the meat on the grill if you want to get grill marks on the meat.
