Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore model #79030172400 wall/oven

A:

Make sure that you have the correct control board installed in the range. We recently had another question regarding this same model of oven and the control board. It appears that the customer may have been shipped the wrong control board in that situation. Here is a link for that previous answer: Hello, kenmore walloven model;79030179400 faint alarm sound, lots of moisture builds up on the vent, no codes or beeps, any ideas on the fix .

Shut off the breaker to the range before accessing internal components.

Check the control panel keytails to make sure that they are plugged in properly and securely.

If you have the correct board and the ribbon cables are okay, then you may need to replace the control panel (part 318284921).

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

A:

The part number for the electronic oven control board for that model (790.30172400) should be 316418553. If you replaced that control board with a new control board that matches that part number then you will likely need to replace the control console panel with part 318284921. Let me know if your electronic control board had a different part number than 316418553 and we can research this issue further.

Q:

Wall oven problem

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not indicate if the igniter will glow red or not. The igniter must glow and pull enough current/amperage to cause the oven gas valve to open. If the glow bar igniter is not glowing and you're sure it's not broken, the failure could be the oven gas valve or the electronic oven control.

I added an image below of the wiring diagram. I traced the bake circuit in red, green and yellow. If the igniter is not glowing, the oven safety valve will need to be disconnected and then tested for continuity across the two terminals on the oven safety valve. The new igniter should also be disconnected and checked for continuity. If both measure continuity, I suspect a faulty electronic oven control. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

oven display is totally out,no code 79030172400 Kenmore Gas walloven

A:

Your symptoms indicate that the electronic control board (part 316418553) needs to be replaced. You indicated that the control panel has been replaced 4 times. I recommend that you check the installation of the wall oven to make sure that it complies with the guidelines in the Installation Manual. There is also a thermal fuse in the control box above the oven cavity. That fuse should protect the control from overheating. You may need to replace that component to prevent further control failures.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.
