Question and Answers

Q:

Installing & building new cabinets. The counter is granite. The new microwave installion guide on this sited did not clearly state how many inches it sits on

A:

According to your details, it sounds like you were referring to the installation guide for induction cook top model 42830 (full model number 790.42830800. Here is the link for the installation guide on that appliance: Installation Guide . The height that the cook top sits above the counter is not a measurement that is provided in the installation guide or other data for this cook top. The approximate height that it will be above the counter is 1/2". I suspect that you need this information for the height of the microwave 85053 above the cook top. The height of that microwave is 16 7/16". Here is a the installation guide for that microwave (model 401.85053010): Installation Guide .

I provided contractor specification information for the cook top and the microwave in the image below.

I see the issue that you are describing on the dishwasher (full model 630.13913010). Here is the installation guide for that model: Installation Guide . I measured the display that we have of this dishwasher. The width of the frame that is installed inside the cut-out is 23 1/2". I saw the width specification shown in the description on Sears.com which is 26 10/77". That width apparently includes the plastic strips that are on each side of the dishwasher. The minimum width of 23 5/8" appears to be accurate if the side strips are removed. If you use the side strips, the width should be 24" to 24 1/4" . The cut-out dimensions in the installation guide appear to be accurate. Let me know if you need more information about the dishwasher.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance or have more questions, reply with additional details.

Q:

Kenmore ultrasoft 180 625.388180 03

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know what the small brownish orange balls are.

This is the resin beads that do the softening.

What has happened is that the distributor screen down in the bottom of the resin tank has broken and is letting the resin beads out into the water lines.

To repair this you will need to replace this part and it is not a nice job for a consumer because you have to remove the resin bed tank from the softener and then remove the resin and replace the distributor. This tank is full of water and resin beads and it is very heavy.

You will have to remove all the salt from the storage tank first.

Then remove the head off the top of the resin tank.

Then remove the top distributor screen and then you will see the resin.

If it was me doing this I would replace the resin bed also, since you have lost some and you have not cleaned the current bed before.

The part number for the distributor is: 7105047 and it sells for about $62.00.

The part number for the resin is: 0502272 and it sells for about $150.00.

My suggestion is to activate the bypass valve to the softener is not in the water supply line and while you will not have softened water it will stop the resin beads from getting into the water lines.

If you feel like you can do this repair and need more help please reply and I will be happy to help you further.

Q:

stove tappan model number-30-3860-23/03 keep saying OFF

A:

Your symptoms point to a failure in the electronic control board that is housed in that console. If you are able to unplug the range and remove that component, you can send it to Core Centric Solutions for repair. The replacement control board part is no longer available. If you decide to have that board repaired, you can call Core Centric Solutions at 1-866-737-2244 to arrange the shipment of that control board. The control board part number is 5303269513.

A:

The cost of repair for the control board by Core Centric Solutions is normally around $150. The labor cost for the Sears Technician is normally around $140. The repair of the range by a technician would probably be around $300. Based on the age of that range, I recommend that you consider replacing it instead of repairing it. You can view new models of ranges on the Sears.com website. If you need more help, let us know.
