I am sorry you are having a problem with the filter. I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. This model does not have a cage but will work the same. Just remove the wing nut and slide the filter over the guide. Once in position secure the filter with the wing nut.

I am sorry the filter is not fitting like it should. I double checked the filter part number. According to the parts list the correct filter for your model is filter number 17809. I searched for a heap filter for your model but could not find one. Your model uses the orange stripe filter. If your local store has a chart for the filters, you can check with them. They will be able to tell you for sure if there is a hepa filter for your model. Al the filters I found are for models made after 1988. It looks like yours is older than that.
