Question and Answers

Q:

Need CFM for Kenmore Elite Microwave Hood Combo, model 72164683300

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The vent motor is rated at 300 CFM.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

Normally at ManageMyLife.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Q:

I am receiving an F-9 message on my microwave.

A:

There are some situations where a power surge through the electrical lines can cause that code. You can try to reset the controls on the microwave by unplugging it for 5 minutes. Plug it back in and see if the F-9 code appears.

That F-9 error code indicates that you have an internal control board or wiring failure in the microwave. A failed inverter control board often causes that code. A service technician will need to diagnose and repair that type of failure. As noted above, microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.
