Question and Answers

Q:

How do I take the microwave door apart (model 72162342202) in order to replace a broken latch

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to repair your microwave yourself.

But I must inform you that Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. They contain high voltage internal component that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. A microwave shielding leakage test must be performed on the unit using proper testing equipment following any internal component access or repair before the microwave can safely be returned to service. These are the reasons why I recommend that you have a service technician repair this microwave failure.

As you can see in the parts list that you mentioned there is a part called a choke cover that has to be removed to get the door apart. It is a friction fit piece that pry’s out, to uncover the screws that holds the door together so you can get to and repair the latch hook.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
