Question and Answers

Q:

What is this part that is breaking in my dishwasher 665.13123k.703?

A:

That appears to be mastic sound dampening material from inside the dishwasher door. I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power. Remove that outer panel of the dishwasher to examine the components inside that dishwasher door. You should be able to find the source of that material after opening up that door. If necessary, you can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Be sure that you shut off the breaker for the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power before accessing and replacing internal components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair the dishwasher, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

The black plastic or mastic is on the inner side of that door that you cannot see. That is why we suggested that you take off that door. It is unusual for this type of failure to occur after only 2 years. I understand your concern about this type of failure occurring so soon after buying the dishwasher. I have forwarded information about this issue to our customer care team. They should be contacting you by email soon to try and resolve this problem.
