Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore plus 66575775890 bake won't work

A:

The theory of operation for that ignition system in the oven is shown in the image below. Here is a video that illustrates that ignition system operation. That information may help you understand that burner lighting process. Since the igniter is okay and it glows when installed on the bake burner, your details seem to indicate that you probably have a failure in that safety gas valve. The control, wiring and igniter are apparently okay. That is the only component that appears to be preventing the ignition process from being completed on that bake burner. Based on your description, replacing that safety gas valve (part 3196891) should fix your problem. You can order that part from this page: Kenmore Range Model 665.75775890 Safety Valve Assembly . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing internal components. Be sure that you connect and seal the gas line connections properly on that safety gas valve assembly. The connections will need to be properly leak checked. If you are not certain that you can properly seal and check those gas line connections, I recommend that you have a service technician complete this repair. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

Where can I find a technical repair manual for Kenmore oven model 66575775890?

A:

There is not a technical repair manual for this range. A technician would normally check for voltage at the oven igniter if it is not glowing in the bake mode. If voltage is present at the igniter, then it would need to be replaced. Since the broil and bake igniters are exactly the same in this model of range, the technician would likely install the broil igniter on the bake burner to verify that the bake burner will ignite with a new igniter. I do not normally recommend that you check live voltage on an appliance yourself. This is a dangerous test that can result in lethal electrical shock if you touch or contact a live wire during this test. I recommend that you unplug the range and install the broil igniter on the bake burner and then test the bake operation to see if the bake burner will ignite. If the broil igniter does not glow when it is installed on the bake burner then you could have a control board relay failure, a wiring failure or possibly an open gas valve.

The wiring diagram for this range is shown in the image below. You can use this information to check the wiring contacts on the control board. Be sure to unplug the range before accessing any internal components.

These tips may help you diagnose and repair your oven problem in the range. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

Can my oven temperature change in just 1 day?

A:

To properly test the oven temperature use an oven thermometer with a mercury filled bulb. The thermometers with springs and a pointer are not trustworthy.

Turn the oven on and set the temperature. Set the timer for 30 minutes and when the timer goes off check the temperature. If you checked the temperature when the preheat indicator went off it would check low. The preheat is to tell you it is ok to put food into the oven, not that it has reached the set temperature.

It is possible for your oven to go from normal to way too cool overnight. The oven temperature sensor is a resistor that changes resistance with heat. It can fail in a second. I doubt this is what happened to you. Read the oven temperature correctly and if you have any other questions we will be glad to help.
