Question and Answers

oven doesn't keep temperature 66572002103 Kenmore Gas range

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when your gas oven is causing problems with the heating.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your model number 665.72002103.

Being that everything else is working on your oven and burners at the top.   I heavily assume that your bake ignitor is going bad.    I have a link below so you can see the bake ignitor.

Instructions on how to test the ignitor:

1.  Open the oven door-to get in there well you may have to remove the hinges.  The bake ignitor is usually located there on the bottom back area.  Usually a cylander kind of oblong and has a metal cover.   It should have 2 oven wires with ceramic nuts.

2.  Turn the gas on please.  Look and see if it is a dull orange/red, may not much of a flame at all.   Most likely there is not enough current going to open the gas valve.  In this case, you might also smell gas.  Then the ignitor needs to be replaced.

3.  Turn the oven on and take a look at your watch.  Wait till the ignitor starts glowing.  If it takes more than 2 minutes to glow, it needs to be replaced.

I hope it helps.   I believe much that it sounds like the ignitor is starting to go bad.
