Question and Answers

Q:

our Kenmore over-the-range microwave suddenly went dead -- stopped working

A:

I must assume you checked and confirmed the wall outlet has the proper voltage. If the wall outlet is okay then it could have one of the following failures:

  • Main fuse
  • Oven cavity thermostat
  • Failed oven control board.
You will need to call a service technician to diagnose and repair your microwave. NOTE: Do NOT attempt to access and repair your microwave. Microwave ovens inherently store 10,000 volts even when unplugged which can cause severe bodily harm or could even be fatal. Call Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to have your microwave diagnosed and repaired.

Q:

microware range hood combo died.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the unit was working fine and it quit while running, I suspect it may have an open line fuse or an open cavity thermal fuse. It will likely cost you as much to have it repaired as it would to purchase a new micro-hood microwave combo.

I added a link to Sears.com where you shop prices of the new units or you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
