Question and Answers

Q:

dishwasher door wont close

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I not clear in understanding if the door will not shut all the way or if it will shut but not latch.

If the door is not shutting fully in order to latch, the latch plate mounted at the front center top area of the tub could be bent up or down preventing the door from shutting all the way.

If the door will shut fully and not latch, then I may have a broken door latch bolt.

To access the latch bolt, the control panel and the front door panel will need to be taken off. Remove the screws on the back side of the inner door to remove the control panel and door panel. Note: Disconnect the power supply to the dishwasher before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

Q:

Where can I find the "disposer knockout plug" on my new portable Kenmore 66517762K600 dishwasher?

A:

The disposer knockout plug would be an issue only if the portable dishwasher is permanently installed where the drain hose connects to the drain connection on the garbage disposer under your sink. If you are using the hose coupler that connects to the sink faucet to supply water to the dishwasher and it uses this same assembly to drain into the sink, then the disposer knockout plug will not be a factor and can be ignored. If the dishwasher is permanently installed, then the drain hose will need to be carefully pulled off of the disposer and you will need to follow the directions for the garbage disposer to remove the knockout plug. Most knockout plugs on disposers just need to be pushed in with a screw driver and a light tap from a hammer. The plug will push into the disposer cavity. You may then need to remove it with a pair of pliers from the inside of the garbage disposer.

If you are using the hose coupler on the faucet to fill and drain the dishwasher, make sure that it is connected properly. Check for a kink in the drain hose. You should hear a drain pump running when the dishwasher is draining. If not, you could have a component failure that will need service by a technician. If the dishwasher is brand new, a component failure should be covered by the warranty.

If you need more help with this problem, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

Kenmore Portable Dishwasher #66517762K600: New adapter part #w10254672 does not have air raider or diffuser inside of it. Because of this, the water comes out

A:

Hi Brian,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

I looked at the part on Sears Parts Direct and the adapter kit pictured has an aerator (screen). Here is a link you may use to view this part; Adapter . Look at the picture here and if the part you received does not have the aerator (screen), you will need to reorder the adapter (part number W10254672).

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Hi Debra, I am not sure what kind of dishwasher you have (other than Maytag). At this point, with the limited information you have given me, I would advise you to order the adapter that Maytag suggested. If I may be of further assistance, please reply to this post as more details become available. Be sure to include a model number. Thanks again for using Manage My Life. Landell
