Question and Answers

How do I replace the heating element on my Kenmore dishwasher?

In order to replace the heating element I would recommend pulling the dishwasher out from under the cabinet.

First be sure to disconnect electrical power to the dishwasher. Turn the water off to the dishwasher. Remove the lower panel & disconnect the electrical supply line & the water supply. Remove the screws that secure the dishwasher to the countertop. Pull the dishwasher out, being careful not to scratch the floor. The drain hose should be long enough to allow the dishwasher to come out far enough without having to disconnect it. You should now have easy access to the heating element connections located towards the rear of the dishwasher. Disconnect the wiring to the element & remove the heater nuts. Pull the element up from the inside of the dishwasher. Install new element. Reverse these instructions to reassemble. Be sure to check for leaks.
