Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher model 665-16819990

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If your certain there are 110-120 volts when measuring across the black and white wires of the power supply cord, the dishwasher could have a faulty door switch(s) or thermal fuse. The thermal fuse will need to be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter and the door switch can also be disconnected and tested for continuity when the is latched. Thermal fuse is wired in series circuit between the door switch and the control board. Follow the tan wire connected to the door switch and it will lead you to the thermal fuse. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before removing the console assembly.

I added an image of the wiring diagram and how to remove the control panel.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

Kenmore Ultra wash #66516819990 won't drain, lock light blinking

A:

The blinking lock light indicates that you have a stuck button (or buttons) on the control panel. You can try to reset the control board by shutting off the breaker for the dishwasher. Leave the breaker off for 2 minutes and then reset it to restore electrical power to the dishwasher. If the lock light resumes blinking then you will need to replace the control panel to fix this problem. According to your model number, the dishwasher appears to have a black console. The part number for the black console is 3384234. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Shut off the breaker to the dishwasher before accessing and replacing this internal component. Remove the Torx screws from the top of the inside door panel to release the control panel. Remove the control board and replace the console. Reassemble and test the dishwasher. If the lock light still blinks then you will also need to replace the electronic control board in the console (part 8530929)

Q:

How do I test the keypad on my Kenmore dishwasher model 665.16819990?

A:

This model of Kenmore dishwasher does not have the OWI sensor or the thermistor. There are many different models that begin with 665. . .

This model also does not have a key switch resistance check like the one that is described for Chai4life's model. A blinking light normally indicates a failed control console as shown in the excerpt below from the tech sheet for this dishwasher. Make sure that the control is not locked. Holding down the NO HEAT DRY button until the control lock light turns off (about 4 deliberate seconds). If the control lock is not causing the problem, then you will likely need to replace the control console.
