Question and Answers

Q:

.Kenmore dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing that should be checked is the voltage supply and wire connections inside the dishwashers’ electrical junction box. The junction box is located under the front corner of the dishwasher. You will need to first turn off the power supply at the breaker box. Locate the house circuit breaker dedicated for the dishwasher electrical supply and flip the breaker off. Remove the lower access panel and the screw securing the electrical junction box cover. Remove the cover and check the wire connections on the black and white wires. Remove the two plastic wire nuts and inspect the wires. The next thing is to confirm the voltage supply with a volt meter by measuring across the black and white wires supplying the voltage. Remember to flip the circuit breaker on before checking voltage. Note: I do not recommend measuring voltage unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

If 110-120 volts is measured, flip the circuit beaker off and reconnect the black and white wires. Flip the breaker on and see if the dishwasher will operate. If it does not operate; the next thing to check is the two door switches. If one of the two door switches is faulty, the dishwasher will not operate. Turn the house circuit breaker off and then check the two door switches for continuity with an Ohm meter. You will need to disconnect the wires from the door switches before checking the switches for continuity. The switches must be closed/pushed in while checking continuity of the switches.

I added an image below with the wiring diagram and the procedure of accessing the door latch switches. The image shows how to remove the outer door panel but on your model there is plastic strip below the bottom edge of the outer panel to remove. See second image below for instructions.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
