Question and Answers

Q:

Lock Light Stays On 66515983990 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

If you have not tried pressing and holding the Air Dry option button for 5 deliberate seconds, then I recommend that you try that first. You may have already done that.

If holding the Air Dry button does not disable the control lock, then the control panel would normally need to be replaced. I checked on the availability of the replacement control panel part. According to your model number, the dishwasher is stainless in color. I did not find a stainless, black or white control panel available for that model. If the control panel is defective, then you will probably need to replace the dishwasher instead of repairing it.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

Q:

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher making humming noise when circulating water 66515983990

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, it sounds like the motor bearings are going out. Your model only has one pump motor which rotates one direction for wash and then it reverses direction to drain. It is possible to have some small little object stuck in the wash impeller to cause a rubbing noise but generally a high pitched humming noise. You could would remove the lower spray arm support housing and then the 4 screws securing the filter assembly and check for object stuck in the wash impeller. You will likely not find anything meaning it will need a new pump motor or a new complete pump and motor assembly. I recommend replacing the complete pump and motor assembly and not just the motor. In order to remove the old pump and motor, you will need to remove the drain hose and the drain hose fitting that is threaded into the sump and disconnect the wire harness connector. Rotate the 4 locking tabs and lift the pump and motor up from inside the dishwasher.  I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

A:

Craig; If you are certain your model dishwasher only has one pump motor and not a separate drain pump, then yes, your on the right track. Make sure the water supply line is not touching any part of the frame or motor or it can make a humming type noise too. If you have the same model dishwasher at the start of the thread, then it will likely need a new pump and motor assembly.

A:

Craig; No special tools are needed and I would order the complete pump and motor assembly and not just the motor. Even if you do just replace the motor, you really do not need the centering tool.

Q:

Dishwasher installation instructions

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the drain hose is restricted or if the inside diameter is too small, it could be part of the problem. I recommend checking for debris inside the check valve. The check valve is the component the drain hose is connected to. If the drain hose is connected to the garbage disposal, make sure there is not a restriction there too.

I added a YouTube video showing how to access and remove the check valve .

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
