Question and Answers

Q:

How do I disassemble my Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 66515953000 to find the cause of a buzzing noise?

A:

The image below shows the disassembly process to access the chopper assembly and impeller in your dishwasher. Shut off the breaker to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Your dishwasher may be slightly different that the one in the image. The spray arm feed tube may be attached slightly different that the one in the procedure. The basic process is the same even though there may be slight differences in your particular model.

Once you access the chopper assembly, you should be able to find the source of your noise.

Q:

Kenmore dishwasher #66515953000: only cancel drain would work, no other power at all, wouldn't turn on at all to wash. I replaced the electronic control

A:

Hi Sergio,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

If the console lights up at all, most likely the console is bad. I have included the switch matrix below; if you have a multimeter you can check for button function. Remove the ribbon cable to the user interface from the control and ohm each button using the image. You need to ohm the switches while pressed and released. A pressed switch should give you a readable ohm value.

You have already spent $100.00 or so on this dishwasher and the console will be approximately $170.00. If you replace the console you will have spent about half of what it would cost for a new dishwasher.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Q:

fix Kenmore dishwasher rack

A:

I provided pictures of the parts in the images below so that you can order the correct components. The first picture is the adjuster housing part 8193740. Here is a direct link for that part: Adjuster . This part includes Keys 2, 14 and 15 on the parts list diagram (the link that you provided). This is a part that frequently breaks.

The second image shows part 8268750 (left side) and 8268751 (right side) actuator. That is Key 3 on your parts diagram. I provided several different views of that part. Order the one for the side that you need (left or right) looking into the dishwasher from the front. Here is a link for the left side actuator: [Actuator - left | http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/8268750/0022/665?pathTaken=partSearch&filterPart=&pop=flush&MML=MMLxexpertxmerch]. Here is a link for the right side actuator: Actuator - right . The link for the right hand part has a picture of the actuator. Those parts have a note to "also order item 15". That part is included with the component shown in the first image.

The third image below shows the arm positioner part 8268704 (Key 16 on the parts diagram). There are 4 of these on the rack (2 on each side). Here is a link for that part: Positioner, arm .

The 4th image shows the adjuster assembly part 8268654 (Key 4 in the parts diagram). That is a metal part that does not usually break. You may not have to replace that part unless it is bent or the wheels are broken. Here is a link for that part: Adjuster assembly .

The 5th image shows the entire assembly on a similar model of dishwasher. Yours may look slightly different.

I hope that this information helps you determine the parts that you need to order. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
