Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore ultr wash dishwasher model 66515951793. The light comes on when I shut the door for normal wash when I select start the light on normal wash blinks on

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the dishwasher is not filling and if you do not hear the wash motor running shortly after starting the dishwasher, it could have faulty door switch. Open and shut the door firmly and then see if makes any difference. Also, what happens when Cancel/Drain is pushed? Does the motor start and run?

If the motor is starting and running but it's just not filling with any water, open the door locate the float dome in the right front corner and make sure the float moves freely up and down. If the float is stuck in the up position, the dishwasher will not fill but it should at least start the motor after a short time of starting the dishwasher. If the motor runs, and does not fill, it could also have a faulty water inlet valve.

If the wash lights blinks on and then turn off after pressing start, it could also have bad power supply connection in the dishwasher electrical junction box located under the front of the dishwasher.

I would remove the lower access panel and then remove the electrical junction box cover and check the connections on the black and white wires. NOTE: Before removing the two plastic wire nuts connecting the wires, flip the house circuit breaker off to the dishwasher.

Remove the two wire nuts and inspect the wire connections. If the connections are good, the dishwasher continues to not operate, it could have faulty door switch, control board or a faulty control panel. The door switches should be checked first after checking the power supply connections. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
