Question and Answers

Q:

My edger, Craftsman model 536.797510, is leaking gas out of the air filter. Why? It drains the gas tank.

A:

The problem will be the carburetor is letting through too much gas. I would replace the carburetor or the diaphragm assemble. If the diaphragm ruptures the fuel will flow through the carburetor and flood the engine. You should also check the oil in the engine to be sure it doesn't have gasoline in it.

Q:

Are idle and speed needle valves preset at factory

A:

The needles on the carburetor are adjusted at the factory. The idle and high speed needles usually have limiters on them so you can adjust them slightly if you want. Usually the carburetors don't require any adjustment.
