Q:

What does an F1 message on a Kenmore 629 range mean?

A:

The F0-0 code is a no fault code. The control just became confused from something. The F1 code indicates a failed oven temperature sensor or a bad control.

Before removing any screws disconnect the electricity from the range.

The way to determine if the problem is in the sensor or the control is to remove the screws above the oven door opening and lower the control panel. The oven temperature sensor wire are 2 small white wires in a connector with 2 larger black wires.

Measure the resistance across the white wires. At room temperature the resistance should be 1000-1200 ohms.

If the sensor checks in this range the control is bad. If it is out of this range you need to remove the back panel of the range and disconnect the oven temperature sensor from the harness and check it again there. If it checks within the range there is a problem in the wiring harness. If it is out of the range the oven temperature sensor is bad.

Q:

Model 629 Kenmore Oven has F1 fault code.

A:

Thank you for your question

I can understand wanting to repair the range yourself.

I will need the model for this range because there were different generations of the 629 sourced Jenn-air built products.

It could be the key pad or electronic oven control. On another generation it could be the thermal on the sensor, or it could be the wiring from the sensor circuit.

Please send the specific model and serial number so we can help you with a good answer.

Thank you for your update. Model 629.46795 74004371 is White. Model 629.46796 74004373 Almond. Model 629.46799 74004375 Black. It is picture key number 6 on the parts list, and it may have a letter after it. I hope this will help. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
