Question and Answers

Q:

Electrolux range

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

As James suggested in the first response; adding the model number would be needed in order to look up the model specific technical data sheet. I searched several induction models and not one tech sheet listed a 5F fault code. Please verify the fault code and reply in the post with the model number for assistance.

You will most likely need to call a service technician with the proper tool and knowledge to diagnose and repair your Electrolux range.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

My elite cooktop has 5F displayed on all the settings what can I do to cancel that so I can use my cooktop

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Without having the model number of your cooktop I cannot be certain what the fault "5F" would mean.

I will need to know the complete model number of the cooktop/range in order to provide any model specific information. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

Error Code 5F (F5) My Kenmore Double Wall Oven is not working. Model 911.41389890

A:

Hello Lauren. According to that serial number and model number, that oven appears to be a 1998 model. It was manufactured for Kenmore by General Electric (GE).

Your symptoms indicate that you have lost the L1 leg of electrical power to the oven. The L2 leg is still powered up since the control lights up when you turn on the lower oven thermostat. The oven is supplied with 240 volt power. One of the 120 volt legs (the L1 leg) normally powers up the display. That leg is apparently dead. The second 120 volt leg of power (L2) is used to  provide the opposite potential for 240 volt element heating. When you turn on the lower oven thermostat, the L2 leg powers up the dead L1 leg through the lower oven element (bake or broil). I recommend that you have an electrician examine and repair the house circuit breaker or wiring for the oven.

Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven and check the broil element in the lower oven to see if it is damaged or broken. If that element is shorting to the metal cabinet inside the lower oven cavity, that could be why it is heating while no other elements work.

Once you have the proper power supply provided to the oven, see if you still encounter that F5 error code. If you do, then you will need to replace the electronic oven control board.  Note: Check the elements for a short to the metal cabinet inside the oven before replacing that control board. A shorted element could have caused your initial problems. It could also damage the new control board as soon as it is installed.

You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Double Wall Oven Model 911.41389890 Repair Parts.   Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven before accessing internal components.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair the range, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Oven Repair.
