Question and Answers

Q:

My kenmore dryer turns on, after a few minutes the flame turns off while it is still running. This happens every couple of minutes? Is this normal?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It is not abnormal for the burner to cycle off and on to maintain a normal operating temperature. If your clothes are drying in a normal amount of time then there is nothing likely wrong with your dryer. If your clothes are taking a little longer to dry than normal then I recommend checking and cleaning the venting system. I also recommend removing the lint filter screen and cleaning it under running warm water with a soft bristle brush. If you use fabric softeners; it can leave a clear layer on the screen which will restrict air flow and cause longer dryer times.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

4 cycle sears mini tiller Model 316 292 621 When I Pull the cord, there is no resistance, the cord retracts.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know why the engine has not resistance when turning it over.

Are you sure that the starter is engaging to the flywheel.

If you turn the clutch can you feel any engine compression resistance?

If you cannot something in the engine has failed.

If you look close on the clutch you will see an arrow on the center hub. Take a large flat bladed screwdriver and a hammer and give it a quick hard hit on the end of the center wing of the clutch next to the retainer spring. This should then allow you to unthread the clutch from the crankshaft.

I hope this will help with your clutch removal and you will find that the starter is the problem.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Webber Genisis Silver Gas Grill, #277/621/xxxx: The front gas line is only lighting 1/2 way and then stops, it will not around.

A:

Thank you for your question on the Genesis Gas Grill burners not lighting correctly.

I did not find your model of Weber Genesis gas grill with the number you provided. There may be a letter like A or B after the Silver series.

Is this a Natural Gas or LP gas grill?

And is it older than 2000 model?

The usual reason why the burners will not light all on both sides is that the burner has scale that is plugging the holes on the burner.

I would suggest cleaning the burners outside with a stainless steel brush and the inside of the burners with a long pipe cleaner.

Sometime you can just take the burners out and tap then and then pour the metal particles out of the inside of the burner.

One other reason for low or small flame is the regulator is in safety lock out mode.

I would suggest turning the LP tank off and then open all the burners valves for about ten minutes. Then close all the burner valves and just barely turn the valve on the tank on only about a 1/4 turn.

Then turn the farthest burner from the LP tank on first. If this does not help then you may have to replace the burners.

Please let me know what you have found, and we can continue our troubleshooting based on that.
