Question and Answers

Q:

59676522500 Kenmore Elite Trio not cooling. Intermittent buzzing sound.

A:

Check the condenser fan to make sure that it is running. A failure of this fan could cause the compressor to overheat. The HV power control board should be okay if the condenser fan is running. I provided the wiring diagram for this refrigerator in the image below.

NOTE: This information is intended for technicians. Follow electrical safety procedures when using this information. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.

If the condenser fan is running, then you could have a bad PTC start relay or a bad compressor. Replacing the PTC start relay on the compressor may fix your problem. This is the only component that you can replace yourself that may fix the problem without calling a service technician. The part number for the PTC/Overload relay is 67005560. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. The PTC start relay part 67005560 includes the capacitor (keys 10 and 11 in the parts image shown below).

NOTE: Replacing the PTC Start relay may not fix this problem if you have a bad compressor. It is normally worth a try based on your description. Additional diagnosis by a service technician is normally required before replacing parts. A service technician will definitely be needed if you have a failed compressor. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Water dispensor fill glass half way, stops and sputters, everything starts shaking in the back where water is trying to come out, if wait a short while,

A:

Your symptoms seem to be describing some water hammer through the water supply line for the refrigerator. I recommend that you check that water supply first. Close the water supply shut-off valve and disconnect the water supply line on the back of the refrigerator. Place the end of that line in a bucket or container and then briefly open the water supply shut-off valve and check the water flow and pressure coming from the end of the water supply line. If you experience sputtering and water hammer during that test, then you will probably need to have a plumber fix your water supply problem.

If the water supply appears to be okay, you could have a problem with the water valve assembly, the filter system, the cooling reservoir or the supply tubing.

If that filter has not been changed in the last 6 months, you may try replacing it to fix this problem. If you still have the filter bypass plug, you can install that and see if the problem disappears. If it does, then replacing the water filter (or leaving the filter bypass in place) should fix your problem.

If the filter is not causing the problem, I recommend that you check for items freezing the back bottom portions of the refrigerator. This could indicate that the water lines going to or coming from the water tank reservoir in the back bottom portion of the refrigerator are frozen. Adjusting the refrigerator temperature setting and defrosting the frozen water lines would fix that type of problem.

If you find no problems with those components, you may need to replace the water valve assembly (part 67005154). You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Here is a direct link for that part: Water Valve . Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before accessing and replacing that water valve assembly.

These tips may help you repair this water dispenser failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .
