Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my new Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 22 13112 have a petroleum smell every time it is run (5 times)?

A:

You could get a petroleum type smell from the door seals or from the lubricants in the wash motor under the dishwasher when it is new. This smell will likely dissipate over the next dozen uses.

I recommend checking your installation instructions to make sure that it is properly installed if you installed the dishwasher yourself. If you had Sears or a contractor install it, you may have them check the installation if possible.

If the dishwasher is working properly, then the petroleum smell is not likely caused by any malfunction of a component or wiring problem. It is difficult to judge the severity of the smell without physically being there in front of the dishwasher. If the smell does not eventually go away or gets stronger, I recommend calling a service technician to examine the dishwasher.

Q:

Microwave will not heat food

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You will need to call and set up a service appointment to have your microwave diagnosed and repaired. It will likely need a minor door switch adjustment.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
